I'm Running Because...

Promoting Education

We should promote education using evidence-based decisions. Educational success is a strong predictor of social mobility, health, and well-being. With changing demographics, we need to maintain Granite School District and ensure its success so that every community, now and later, has safe and adequate access to a well achieving public school.

My top priority as a representative of Precinct 2 will be to make smart decisions for our students, educators, and public schools. To do this, I believe community members and other stakeholders need to be involved in order for the Board to understand what is needed and how it can best help. I also believe that these decisions should be data-driven and include the expertise of local professionals, including our educators.

Civic Activites

Dr Kevin Korous

Parental Rights

I advocated for parental rights & local control by asking state legislators of Utah during an education interim committee meeting to leave decisions about books to professional librarians, teachers, & parents within public school communities.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Aren't Bad Words

I urged policy makers and educational institutions to actively support students from underrepresented communities so that they have the resources to turn their merit and hard work into success.

Local Control

I urged voters to elect representatives at the state and local level who will vocally advocate for public education and make smart decisions for our students, educators, and schools, and prioritize what Utah students need the most over national politics.

Advocated for Smaller Class Size in K-3

During the Utah House Education Committee, I advocated for smaller class sizes, specifically kindergarten, by speaking in favor of bills aimed at directing more funding to K-3 classrooms.

Curriculum by Local Experts without Politics

During the Utah Senate Business & Labor Committee, I asked legislatures to prioritize developing curriculum in collaboration with school boards and local experts, and to keep national politics out of education.

Student Success

During the Utah Senate Education Committee, I advocated for student success by asking state legislators to prioritize data-informed interventions in addressing student needs in K-12 and higher education.

What is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion?

In collaboration with 1 Utah Project, I helped organize and I moderated a public, expert led panel discussion on diversity, equity, and inclusion to combat misinformation and disinformation.

Support K-12 Students & Educators by Blocking Utah HB 427

I led an online petition, alongside community advocates and teachers, to support students and educators in Utah by blocking Utah's House Bill 427. We collected over 700 signatures online.

Anti-Racism is Not Racism

In collaboration with a community advocate, we encouraged readers to understand how policy decisions overlook systemic inequities and unfair treatment in education and the workplace.
